There are so many stories making up the mosaic of national/international news that we can’t cover them all every week. The biggest stories now seem to be: Israel and Iran, the Trump presidency (lawfare and judges), immigration (migrants and illegals), wars, weaponization of government (the deep state) against Trump and conservatives, our nation’s debt, massive inflation, climate change controversy and related expenses of government, industry attempting to address these issues, the Chinese threat, national security, abortion, taxpayer cuts, Ukraine peace, and hatred and violence against Christians.

CA Schools Impacted by U.S. Supreme Court Decision on Religious Rights

CALIRED NEWS–Conservative leaders in California are predicting schools will be swamped with opt-out demands that “will likely cause turmoil, confusion, and years of litigation, largely because the (Supreme) Court offered no guidance on how opt-out requests should be handled, how religious belief claims can or should be verified, and how schools should handle potential logistical issues,” according to an Aug. 25 EdSource article by Thomas Peele.

CALIRED NEWS–Schools nationwide can no longer withhold parental opt-outs on a case involving LGBTQ+ “inclusive” storybooks under any conditions according to the June 27 Supreme Court ruling made on the Montgomery County, Maryland case of Mahmoud v. Taylor with Mahmoud representing Muslim, Catholic, and Ukrainian Orthodox parents and (Supt. Thomas) Taylor representing the Montgomery County School board.

CALIRED NEWS–The Shasta County Board of Supervisors approved a letter of opposition (Agenda C3) to State gerrymandering of districts–which impacts local Congressional District 1 represented by Congressman Doug LaMalfa at its Aug. 26th board meeting and again tabled any discussion (Agenda R6 and R7) of the Nov. 4 Statewide Special Election as well as how much money is being spent on Shasta County elections from the agenda.

Trump championed a gerrymandering measure through the State Legislature Thursday, Aug. 21 (the Assembly voted 57 to 20 and the Senate voted 30-8) that eliminates four Republican Congressional California seats and will now go to the voters in a special Nov. 4 election that will cost California taxpayers $200 million and still face legal hurdles.
