There are so many stories making up the mosaic of national/international news that we can’t cover them all every week. The biggest stories now seem to be: Israel and Iran, the Trump presidency (lawfare and judges), immigration (migrants and illegals), wars, weaponization of government (the deep state) against Trump and conservatives, our nation’s debt, massive inflation, climate change controversy and related expenses of government, industry attempting to address these issues, the Chinese threat, national security, abortion, taxpayer cuts, Ukraine peace, and hatred and violence against Christians.

REDDING–“I want more of God; I’ve seen enough religion–God is not silent–He still speaks today,” said Bethel evangelist Tom Crandall speaking to a crowd of nearly 500 at the Redding Civic Auditorium Turning Point USA faith event held on Sat., Feb. 7. More than a dozen came forward to receive Christ at the conclusion of the Faith, Family, Freedom night sponsored by both the Simpson University and Shasta College Turning Point USA chapters which also drew around 50 protestors.

Tonight, I had the gift of listening to Fr. Kevin O’Brien, SJ reflect on what it means to love as God loves. His presentation was not abstract or theoretical, it was deeply human, grounded in Scripture, and attentive to the lived realities of suffering, mercy, and encounter. As I sat there, I found myself thinking again and again about campus ministry: about students, about service, and about the daily choices we make to draw near or to stay at a distance.
