Aug. 28 Fundraiser Attracts Supporters To Win River Event Center

A fundraiser promotional flyer has Clint Curtis campaign motto: “Elections Every Citizen Can Trust” and states: “Clint Curtis is running to restore trust, transparency, and integrity to our county’s election process…focused on protecting the voice of every citizen.

“Clint is running to be elected by the people he serves. This is the most important election because if politicians can gain this seat back, America will never return to real elections again. His reason is simple–elections every citizen can trust.

“In Clint’s words: ‘If you win or lose, you should know. You should see it for yourself. That’s what a constitutional republic demands. And that’s what I’m here to protect.’”

Clint Curtis: “Going To Make” (Nov. elections work) Without A Dime of Funding”

Shasta County Registrar of Voters Clint Curtis in an Aug. 27 interview with CaliRed News, said we’re “going to make” (the November Elections work) without a dime of (new) funding. Everyone can see and the election is counted correctly (maybe) not as cool and fancy as if we had gotten a building.”

(Editor’s Note: The Shasta County Board of Supervisors chose not to vote on an amendment to increase Curtis’ budget by $125,000 because they wanted more time to find a new location for the Elections Department. Click here to read CaliRed News story on Aug. 26 Board of Supervisors meeting.)

“As such, it is highly unlikely that we will be able to move to any building, especially one as nice as Joann Fabrics.” Curtis said to the Redding Record Searchlight. “We will probably  have to make do with what we have and configure it so we can still allow maximum observation. Should be challenging but nothing is impossible”

The county Elections Department has been on Market Street in downtown Redding for decades.

Curtis had wanted to move to a larger building so he could add more voting machines to count ballots and put in 42 cameras to livestream workers processing and tabulating ballots. The initial plan was to spend $2.6 million to relocate elections to the former Joann Fabrics & Crafts building on Dana Drive.

Clint Curtis: “We Had 2,700 More Votes Than Voters In The 2024 Elections”

“I have never seen a worse security job than the election office in Shasta County. There were open ballot trays and everyone had a key to the election office. If you wanted to add ballots or remove ballots you could do so. There were seals that didn’t seal. It was almost criminal negligence. I don’t know if they didn’t know how or they didn’t care and were purposely tanking the system. Everything could be altered and you didn’t need a machine to alter with movement of ballots from the first floor to the second floor with no seals (or secure seals)…if you wanted to cheat. We had 2,700 more votes than voters in the 2024 elections.”

Curtis Supports Several Election Reforms:

“I absolutely like hand counting.”

Curtis said he was supportive of California State Assemblyman Carl DeMaio, R-75, San Diego) Voter ID Initiative shared at a July Redding Town Hall meeting with California State Assemblywoman Heather Hadwick, R-1, Alturas and 150 others. The Reform California Voter ID Initiative requires Photo ID to vote and verification of citizenship.

“You need an ID for everything today. If you want to vote, it is silly not to identify (yourself). This is absolutely horrible.” Likewise, the “voter rolls” are horrible. “They won’t get better unless the Justice Department does investigations.

“Poll pads (a tablet connected to state software) are bad. We have no control (of them).

“We need to do in house printing of ballots. Doing our own ballots can save us $100,000 per election, plus we can see if there are duplicate ballots.

When asked about EIPCa efforts to pursue federal legislation, Curtis said he supported:

  • Implementing video surveillance of the elections process.
  • Incorporating up-close observer surveillance.
  • Eliminating ballot drop boxes.
  • Eliminating Top-Two (jungle) primaries.
  • Eliminating Rank-Choice voting.
  • Prohibiting Same-Day voter registration.
  • Prohibiting pre-registration of minors.

Shasta County Office of Elections Dumps Dominion Voting Machines

In 2023, the Shasta County Board of Supervisors cut ties with Dominion Voting Systems, under the leadership of Supervisor Patrick Jones. Shasta County wanted to go to hand-counting only; but was kept from doing so by new California Legislation aimed directly at the county.

Shasta County Office Of Elections

The Shasta County Office of Elections was operated by County Clerk and Registrar of Voters Cathy Darling Allen for more than two decades prior to her resignation announced in February, 2024 due to health reasons. Her replacement Tom Toller, was appointed by the Shasta County Board of Supervisors but also resigned in March, 2025 due to health reasons.

Clint Curtis, an attorney licensed in New York but living in Florida was appointed in May of this year, by the Shasta County Board of Supervisors in a 3-2 vote (Supervisors Kevin Crye, Chris Kelstrom, and Corkey Harmon voting for him) as the new County Clerk and Registrar of Voters over Assistant Registrar of Voters Joanna Francescut.

Assistant Registrar of Voters Joanna Fracescut who had 17 years of election experience was fired by Registrar of Voters Clint Curtis in May, two weeks after accepting his new job role. The 2026 elections will determine if Curtis keeps the position. Both have stated intentions to run for the top election post in Shasta County.
