Trump Vows Voter ID for Midterms With or Without Congress

President Donald Trump wrote in Truth Social posts that there will be voter identification requirements for the 2026 midterm elections whether Congress approves them or not, explaining that he intends to present legal arguments in the form of an Executive Order.
In a Friday post on Truth Social, Trump stated: “The Democrats refuse to vote for Voter I.D., or Citizenship. The reason is very simple — They want to continue to cheat in Elections. This was not what our Founders desired. I have searched the depths of Legal Arguments not yet articulated or vetted on this subject, and will be presenting an irrefutable one in the very near future. There will be Voter I.D. for the Midterm Elections, whether approved by Congress or not! Also, the People of our Country are insisting on Citizenship, and No Mail-In Ballots, with exceptions for Military, Disability, Illness, or Travel. Thank you for your attention to this matter! PRESIDENT DONALD J. TRUMP”
In a second post, Trump further detailed his stance: “We cannot let the Democrats get away with NO VOTER I.D. any longer. These are horrible, disingenuous CHEATERS. They have all sorts of reasons why it shouldn’t be passed, and then boldly laugh in the backrooms after their ridiculous presentations. If it weren’t such a serious matter, it would be considered a TOTAL JOKE! No Voter I.D. is even crazier, and more ridiculous, than Men playing in Women’s Sports, Open Borders, or Transgender for Everyone. Republicans must put this at the top of every speech — It is a CAN’T MISS FOR RE-ELECTION IN THE MIDTERMS, AND BEYOND! Even Democrat Voters agree, 85%, that there should be Voter I.D.”
Senator Mike Lee Outlines Plan to Force Democrats’ Hand After Securing 50 Votes for SAVE Act

Senator Mike Lee (R-UT) has just confirmed massive news for election integrity patriots across the country. After weeks of tireless work, Lee announced that he had secured 50 Senators to support the motion to proceed on the House-passed version of the SAVE Act (Safeguard American Voter Eligibility Act). This is a major victory for those fighting to ensure only U.S. citizens vote in U.S. elections. But the battle isn’t over—it’s just entering the most critical phase. With the motion to proceed now viable, Senator Lee is laying out the exact roadmap to bypass the obstructionist swamp and get this bill across the finish line. The strategy? The Talking Filibuster.
The Gateway Pundit reported Friday that Senator Susan Collins (R-ME) has officially announced her support for the SAVE Act. With Vice President JD Vance prepared to break a tie if necessary, supporters of the legislation now say they have the numbers needed to pass the bill under a standing or “talking” filibuster scenario, marking a potential turning point in the GOP’s long-running effort to implement nationwide voter ID and proof-of-citizenship requirements for federal elections.
It can be recalled that Rep. Anna Paulina Luna revealed that Senate leadership is moving toward nuking the so-called “Zombie Filibuster” and restoring an old-school standing filibuster to advance the SAVE America Act, legislation that requires proof of U.S. citizenship to vote. According to Luna, John Thune signaled after a meeting with Donald Trump that the Senate is prepared to bring the SAVE Act to the floor without the modern, abuse-ridden 60-vote blockade.
In a new statement, Senator Lee made it crystal clear: no more hiding in the backrooms. If Democrats want to block legislation that prevents non-citizens from voting, they are going to have to stand up and do it in front of the American people.
Rep. Barry Moore: Democrats Fighting SAVE America Act to Retain Support From ‘Outsiders’

Rep. Barry Moore (R-AL), the Trump-endorsed candidate for Alabama’s opening U.S. Senate seat, blasted Democrat senators for fighting the House-passed SAVE America Act, accusing them of needing “outsiders” to maintain their power. The election integrity bill, also endorsed by President Donald Trump, passed the U.S. House of Representatives last week with the support of just one Democrat, Rep. Henry Cuellar (D-TX).
Sponsored by Rep. Chip Roy (R-TX) and Sen. Mike Lee (R-UT), the bill is an updated version of the initial Safeguarding American Voter Eligibility (SAVE) Act, which was passed by the House in April 2025 but never taken up in the Senate. If passed, the legislation would require people to provide a U.S. passport or birth certificate to register to vote. The act is again facing trouble in the Senate, where it has faced a near-unanimous rejection from Democrats.
Calling the Republican Party under Trump the “America First movement,” Moore said that the “Democrats’ only play is to go hard left and then allow illegals, people who are not citizens, to vote because American citizens don’t want what they’re trying to shove down our throats. These are 80-20 issues, like men in women’s sports [and] all this stuff, they’re trying to do it,” the Senate candidate said.
“They are so tone deaf to the American people right now that I think that’s why they’re fighting the SAVE Act. It is because they need outsiders, people who are not Americans — who want to get on the dole, who want to come here, and they will do whatever it takes to maintain power.”
Pointing to a Pew Research Center survey showing that voter ID is overwhelmingly popular amongst all Americans of different ethnic backgrounds: 82 percent of Hispanic Americans want this, 78 percent of black Americans.
