Shasta Supervisors Approve $1.6 Million Funding Application for Public Health

CALIRED NEWS–The Shasta County Board of Supervisors today (Oct. 7) approved up to $1,645,560  to the California Department of Public Health for the California Home Visiting Program (Agenda C7) and a $1.2 million agreement with Redwood Community Services, Inc. for youth residential specialty mental health services (Agenda C5).

Shasta Not a Charter County

CALIRED NEWS–It was made public at the Shasta County Board of Supervisors Sept. 9 meeting (Agenda C3) that Shasta was not a Charter County because the appropriate paperwork for Measure D passed on March 5, 2024 had not been filed with the Secretary of State and was just recently filed in August.

County Supervisors Approve Letter Opposing State Gerrymanding Districts

CALIRED NEWS–The Shasta County Board of Supervisors approved a letter of opposition (Agenda C3) to State gerrymandering of districts–which impacts local Congressional District 1 represented by Congressman Doug LaMalfa at its Aug. 26th board meeting and again tabled any discussion (Agenda R6 and R7) of the Nov. 4 Statewide Special Election as well as how much money is being spent on Shasta County elections from the agenda.
