Trump Is Right to Demand China Share the Risk in the Strait of Hormuz

March 17, 2026
RED STATE–President Donald Trump is doing something American leaders have avoided for too long. He is telling China and other major importers of Gulf oil that if they want the benefits of open sea lanes, they need to help protect them.
According to an interview with the Financial Times, Trump has warned that he may delay his state visit to China if Beijing will not assist in keeping the Strait of Hormuz open. He notes that China gets a large share of its oil from the Middle East and argues it is only fair for countries that rely on that route to shoulder part of the burden.

Food Stamp Recipients Now Demanding Junk Food on Your Dime

March 13, 2026
RED STATE–Being on public assistance shouldn’t be convenient or comfortable. It shouldn’t be unlimited. The purpose of a public assistance program, like the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, or SNAP, should be to provide a minimal and temporary aid; as the saying goes, a hand up, not a hand out. What’s more, where food assistance is concerned, it should be limited to food of proven nutritional value. Not candy, not sugary drinks, not prepared foods.

What looks like a simple travel scene is, in reality, a snapshot of life under a regime that treats female athletes less as representatives of their country and more as hostages of the state.

Affordability: Prices We Can Afford–A Roundup of Local, State, and National Stories

Democrats and Gavin Newsom stubbornly cling to carbon taxing – not because they are true believers – because it’s a revenue-generating tax.

Chevron just sent a letter to California Governor Gavin Newsom and the California Air Resources Board warning them of deep concerns and strong opposition to the CARB- proposed amendments to the Cap-and-Invest (formerly cap and trade) regulation, that the state’s few remaining refineries can’t survive, and the California economy could be crippled.
