This was during the revival called “The 2nd Great Awakening” (1795 -1835). After listening to pastors preaching from the Bible, he declared, “America is great because she is good. If America ever ceases to be good, she will cease to be great.” He was right! “Righteousness exalts a nation, But sin is a reproach to any people” (Proverbs 14:34).
