Why I Am Voting for Che Ahn for Governor
Harvest Rock Church Pastor is California Write-In Candidate
Written by Mike Hernandez
PASADENA–I am voting for California Write-In Candidate Dr. Che Ahn for Governor: the Harvest Rock Church Pastor and the President and Founder of Harvest International Ministry which includes more than 25,000 affiliated churches and ministries across 73 nations.

In 1982, the Lord called Pastor Che and his wife, Sue, to move from Maryland to Los Angeles for a great revival with dear friends and ministry partners Lou and Therese Engle.
While working on his doctorate degree under Peter Wagner in 1991 at Fuller Theological Seminary in Pasadena, Ahn would attend the Harvest Evangelism Conference being held in Argentina where he would meet evangelist Carlos Annacondia and be greatly impacted. Ahn would be invited into the leadership of Love L.A. which included Pastor Jack Hayford, Pastor Lloyd Ogilvie, Bishop Charles Blake and Bishop Ken Ulmer.
In 1994, Che would become involved with the Anaheim awakening and then with the Toronto, Canada outpouring of the Holy Spirit that would soon be known around the world. In this same year, Che and Sue founded Harvest Rock Church. Soon nightly renewal meetings were held for 18 months as thousands of people were getting radically healed, saved, and encountered by the glory of God.
In 1995, Pastor Che and Lou Engle would establish an around-the-clock “House of Prayer for All Nations.” Harvest International Ministry was launched in 1996 after receiving a “word of the Lord” from Cindy Jacobs that called Pastor Che to “father a new movement”–a “network of networks” created to train and raise up others.
In December, 2003, Harvest Rock Church would acquire the Pasadena Ambassador Auditorium and in 2010, Che and Sue would start a business they called Joseph’s Storehouse.
COVID-19, the lockdown of churches and the lawsuit with California Governor Gavin Newsom would begin to turn Pastor Che’s heart once again to focus on California. While the pandemic had closed churches nationwide, California remained closed the longest and only reopened to churches after a lawsuit instigated by Harvest Rock’s Pastor Che.
California had banned any “singing and chanting” (worship of any kind) and with the assistance of attorney Mat Staver of Liberty Counsel, California Governor Gavin Newsom was sued and on July 17, 2020, Harvest Rock Church and Harvest International Ministry–representing around 150 churches in California–filed a federal lawsuit against Gov. Newsom for unconstitutional restrictions on worship.
Three weeks later on Aug. 13, a Pasadena city prosecutor threatened to put Pastor Che in jail for one year, in addition to fines of $1,000 per attendee per sevice–which totaled $4.5 million. On Feb, 5, 2021, the U.S. Supreme Court ruled in a 6-3 vote to end the ban on indoor church services in California and then on April 9, 2021, the U.S. Supreme Court ruled to allow home Bible studies in California.
After the 2020 election, Pastor Che concluded that reformation was needed now in America more than ever before and he began work reforming California and the nation. In 2021, Revive California was launched.
On April 28, 2025, Pastor Che was awakened and he sensed an unexpected call to run for governor. He is running on 9 pillars in what he calls “The Family First Agenda:” Pillars 1-3: Life, Family Faith; Pillars 4-6: Freedom, Public Safety and Compassionate Justice, Economic Opportunity and Affordability; Pillars 7-9: Education and Truth, Ending Homelessness Through Restoration and Governmental Integrity and Constitutional Rights.
Pastor Che Ahn’s campaign is called Hope California. Pastor Che was one of the major sponsors of Hope Fest LA 2026.

While I know that Pastor Che Ahn is not on the California ballot, due to a technicality of a financial disclosure not reaching the Secretary of State in time to qualify–there is no better time to vote for a write-in candidate.
Why? With 62 candidates running for governor–the top two will advance to the General Election. This is the time for Christians to perform their civic duty of voting. This is the time for Californians seeking reform and hoping to see California rise once again to cast their vote for write-in candidate Che Ahn for California Governor.
“Vote. Let’s bring hope back to California!”
