That’s a wrap on the 2026 legislative session!

The Legislature officially wrapped up its work on Tuesday, bringing another busy legislative session to a close. The end of session is always a marathon—long days, late nights, hundreds of votes, bills changing by the hour, last‑minute amendments and plenty of chaos right up until the final gavel.

But this year was about much more than numbers!

In the middle of all the craziness, I built relationships that helped deliver real results for Assembly District 1. I worked across the aisle, found common ground where we could and never stopped standing firm for the people and values of rural California.

I also brought my colleagues home to AD1. I cooked for them, introduced them to my cows, showed them our farms, forests and small towns, and helped them understand the distances we travel and the challenges our communities face. It is much harder to overlook rural California once you have met our people, traveled our roads and experienced firsthand what makes this district so special.

Tuesday was also bittersweet as I said goodbye to friends who are terming out or moving on to new adventures, along with longtime staff members who are retiring after years of service to the Capitol and our state.

Now we begin our legislative recess until January ‑ but “recess” certainly does not mean time off! My days will be filled with local meetings, community tours and visits throughout all 11 counties. We’ll be back on the road hosting 14 Community Conversations in September and October alone.

This is my favorite part of the year: getting out of Sacramento, coming home and spending time with the people I am honored to represent.

Thank you for trusting me to be your voice. Serving Assembly District 1 is the honor of a lifetime, and I am incredibly grateful for every mile, every conversation and every opportunity to fight for rural California.
