Congress Passes Day of Remembrance Resolution for Charlie Kirk

CALIRED NEWS–The U.S. Congress has created a National Day of Remembrance for Charlie Kirk on Tuesday, Oct. 14, 2025–Charlie’s 32nd birthday.
The U.S. Senate passed the resolution unanimously on Sept. 18 and House Resolution 727 was passed on Sept. 16 by a vote of 310-58 with 58 Democrats voting against it; 38 Democrats voting present; and 22 Democrats not voting at all. To put that in context: a bipartisan resolution condemning the shootings of Democratic state lawmakers in Minnesota passed the U.S. House 424-0 in June.
(Editor’s Note: State Representative Melissa Horman (D) and her husband, Mark, were killed in the attack, and State Senator John Hoffman (D) and his wife, Yvette, were critically wounded in an attack that took place on June 14 by Vance Boelter, 57.)
RedState reported the House Resolution on Charlie Kirk’s Remembrance:
(1) supports the designation of a “National Day of Remembrance for Charlie Kirk”;
(2) recognizes Charlie Kirk for his contributions to civic education and public service; and
(3) encourages educational institutions, civic organizations, and citizens across the United States to observe this day with appropriate programs, activities, prayers, and ceremonies that promote civic engagement and the principles of faith, liberty, and democracy that Charlie Kirk championed.
According to Gateway Pundit, the resolution states in part:
“Charlie Kirk personified the values of the First Amendment, exercising his God-given right to speak freely, challenge prevailing narratives, and did so with honor, courage, and respect for his fellow Americans.”
“Charlie Kirk’s commitment to civil discussion and debate stood as a model for young Americans across the political spectrum, and he worked tirelessly to promote unity without compromising on conviction.”
“The assassination of Charlie Kirk was not only a heinous act of violence, but a sobering reminder of the growing threat posed by political extremism and hatred in our society.”
The House Resolution states that Charlie Kirk:
- Was a champion of free speech, civil dialogue, and faith;
- Consistently promoted the values of individual liberty, open debate the importance of civic education, fostering youth leadership, and promoting principles of liberty and democracy access the United States;
- Was the founder and executive director of Turning Point USA, a nonprofit organization of thousands of chapters across the United States dedicated to educating students about the principles of freedom, free markets, and limited government;
- Authored multiple national bestselling books, that engage readers in critical conversations about civic, culture, and the future of the United States;
- Through Mr. Kirk’s writing, public speaking, and media presence, Charlie Kirk reached millions of United States citizens, inspiring the next generation to become active participants in civic life;
- Mr. Kirk’s life work has contributed to strengthening public discourse, defending constitutional principles, and fostering active citizenship; and
- Mr. Kirk’s life work, especially his efforts to bring these American ideals to life on our college campuses, cost him his life by means of an assassin’s bullet on September 10, 2025.
(Editor’s Note: Charlie Kirk’s funeral service is set for Sunday, Sept. 21 at 11 a.m. at State Farm Stadium in Glendale, Arizona with doors opening at 8 a.m. The Glendale Police Department is expecting up to 100,000 people. Attendees are advised to expect enhanced security measures, including a no-bag policy and additional screening that may result in longer wait times. Celebrants are encouraged to wear attire in red, white, or blue. Instead of flowers, donations are requested for Turning Point USA.)
