Reform California Fights Tax Hikes: Urges “No” On Prop. 2, 3 and 40–

Promotes “Yes” On Prop. 41, 42, 43 (Tax Payer Protection)

By Mike Hernandez

SACRAMENTO–Reform California urges a “no” vote on Propositions 2, 3 and 40 in the fight against tax hikes and a “yes vote” on Propositions 41, 42, 43 providing Tax Payer Protections.

Carl DeMaio, chairman of Reform California and California State Assemblyman District 75, San Diego has outlined this general election campaign as “playing defense” to block tax hikes:

  • No on Prop 2 – Cancels tax rebates when the spending limit is exceeded;
  • No on Prop 3 – Massive income tax increase;
  • No on Prop 40 – A “billionaire” tax that’s really an “everybody” tax.

“playing offense” providing Tax Payer Protections:

  • Yes on Prop 41 – Audit Special Taxes;
  • Yes on Prop 42 – Stop the Savings Tax;
  • Yes on Prop 43 – Local Taxpayer Protection Initiative (Saves Prop 13).

DeMaio says he is fighting against:

  • 600+ local tax measures on ballots statewide —”We’ve already flagged 300+ hidden hikes, with a full list coming by September 1.”
  • The “Mileage Tax” — a proposed 6¢-per-mile charge on every driver (average. $900/year), which “We can only stop by breaking the legislature’s two-thirds supermajority.”

Reform California has organized a “26 in 2026 Campaign” with two major tasks:

TASK 1: REACH 26 VOTERS AT THEIR DOOR

“We are recruiting 26,000 volunteers statewide to take a specific list we provide them of low-propensity voters in a neighborhood in a target seat. (Note: almost everyone lives in a target seat – or within a 30-60 minute drive of one.)

“You will drive to those homes – not walk since we are skipping most homes and going to specific ones of low-propensity voters.  You will knock and leave a door hanger at homes that don’t answer.  You need to continue to go to doors or go back to previous doors until you complete 26 actual person-to-person conversations.  While leaving door hangers is ok, remember this program only works with personal contact is achieved so that is all we are counting.

“If you sign up for this program, please make sure your commitment is FIRM that you will complete 26 conversations at the door.

TASK 2: ORGANIZE A BALLOT HARVESTING EVENT

“We need volunteers to host and/or help get attendees to our “Barbeque, Beer & Ballots” events in October 2026 – our version of “ballot harvesting” events that make voting fun, easy and secure while covering our voter guide with our endorsed candidates!

“If you sign up for this program, please make sure your commitment is FIRM that you will organize your own event or get issue enough invites to one of our public events to get 26 attendees to one of these events.”
