LA Mayor Race: Spencer Pratt Makes His Case

Running Against Karen Bass and Nithya Raman

Los Angeles mayoral candidate Spencer Pratt, the sole Republican challenger in the race against incumbent failure Karen Bass and Democrat Socialists of America city councilwoman Nithya Raman, is riding a wave of good news. When the latest campaign finance reports were released last week, Pratt had outraised both Bass and Raman. Then a Los Angeles legend, Lakers governor (and daughter of Jerry) Jeanie Buss, made a max-out contribution to Pratt’s campaign

Then on Wednesday, Pratt released what is probably one of the best 30-second “political” ads of all time. I put quotes around the word “political” because its power is that it’s not a stunt, not a political speech, not a polls-driven, talking-point-filled cringefest.

It’s a message from a dad who lost almost everything (thank God he still has his wife and kids) speaking from his heart, and knowing that millions of Angelenos feel the same way. He stands in front of the homes of Karen Bass (well, Getty House, which is LA’s mayoral mansion) and Nithya Raman, both tucked away from the reality most residents have to confront every time they leave home, then shows his own home: a trailer he recently had placed on his burned-out lot in Pacific Palisades.

Pratt narrates the video. “This is where Mayor Bass lives. ‘Ya notice something?’ “They don’t have to live in the mess they created – where you live.”

Karen Bass lives in The Getty House, a gated community reserved for the mayor of L.A. Pretty nice for a woke progressive.

Then to his own home. “This is where I live.”

You can hear the emotion in his voice as he says, “They let my home burn down. I know what the consequences of failed leadership are. That’s why I’m running for mayor. For my sons and the rest of us Angelenos that want to stop these corrupt politicians from destroying our city. We are gonna get the golden age of Los Angeles back.”
