Newsmax And White House Report on SAVE America Act–FL Sen. Rick Scott to Newsmax: GOP Must Force Vote on SAVE America Act
May 8: Newsmax by Nicole Weatherholtz
Sen. Rick Scott, R-Fla., told Newsmax on Friday that Senate Republicans should force a talking filibuster to get the SAVE America Act passed, arguing the legislation has overwhelming public support while Democrat senators continue blocking election integrity protections.
During an appearance on “Wake Up America,” Scott said Republicans will return to Washington next week focused on advancing several major priorities, including reconciliation legislation, funding U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement and Customs and Border Protection, reforming FISA surveillance authorities, and confirming President Donald Trump’s nominees.
Scott said Republicans also plan to renew their push for the SAVE America Act, which would require proof of citizenship and voter identification standards in federal elections. He argued the measure is supported by Republicans, Democrats, and independents across the country, while Senate Democrats remain the lone group opposing it. “The only group that doesn’t want it is the Democrat senators,” Scott said. “They don’t want you to have to show an ID to vote. They don’t want you to have to be an American to register to vote.”
He accused Democrats of opposing the bill because they benefit politically from weak election safeguards and because their policies are increasingly unpopular with voters. “Why? There’s only one reason why — they want cheaters,” Scott said. “Because they know their policies are radical. They don’t understand the American public anymore. They don’t understand America is the good guys,” he added.
Scott said Republican policies are more aligned with the concerns of American families and voters who want secure elections, strong borders, and accountable government. “What we believe — what Republicans believe in — is the right things for families,” he said. “So we’ve got to get this passed.”
Scott said Senate Republicans should keep the issue on the floor and force Democrats to publicly defend their opposition through extended debate. “The way to do this is get on the bill and keep talking about it,” he said. “Force a talking filibuster, right? So people have to talk, and then when we finish talking, we vote.”
Trump Pushes SAVE America Act in Housing, FISA Bills
May 16: Newsmax Wires
President Donald Trump on Saturday renewed his push for the SAVE America Act, urging Congress to attach the election-security measure to pending housing and Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act legislation while alleging widespread problems with mail-in voting. In a post on Truth Social, Trump declared: “THE SAVE AMERICA ACT MUST BE PASSED, NOW. Use the Housing and FISA Bills to get it done!”

Trump also claimed that Maryland had “500,000 Fake Mail-In Ballots revealed,” though he did not provide evidence or additional details to support the allegation. “We cannot, as a Country, put up with this any longer!!!” Trump wrote. “Voter I.D., and Proof of Citizenship, must be approved, NOW. Crooked Mail-In Voting must be stopped!!!”
The president’s latest comments come as Republicans continue pushing the SAVE America Act, legislation that would require documentary proof of citizenship to register to vote in federal elections.
Trump and GOP allies have argued the bill is needed to strengthen election integrity and prevent noncitizen voting.
Critics, including voting rights organizations and congressional Democrats, have argued the legislation could make voting more difficult for some Americans, including married women whose names have changed and voters who do not readily possess citizenship documents such as passports or birth certificates.
Federal law prohibits noncitizens from voting in U.S. federal elections, with penalties including fines and up to one year in prison.
Trump has increasingly tied passage of the SAVE America Act to broader legislative negotiations. Earlier this year, he warned that the bill should “go to the front of the line” and suggested he would withhold support for other measures until Congress acts on election security legislation. The president has repeatedly called for stricter voter-identification requirements, proof of citizenship and limits on mail-in voting, making election security a central issue in his administration’s domestic agenda.
The White House: Act Now–SAVE America Act
White House Government
American citizens — and only American citizens — should decide American elections. The Save America Act is a common sense, bipartisan bill that would simply require —
- A Valid ID Before Registering to Vote in a Federal Election
- Proof of Citizenship
- No Mail-in Ballots (Except for Illness, Disability, Military or Travel)
The President is calling on Republicans and Democrats to pass the SAVE America Act. Requirement for Voter I.D. to vote should be something that NO American should oppose. If you want to register to vote in the United States, you have to be a citizen in the United States.
The SAVE America ACT will direct states to remove non-citizens from the voter rolls. AMERICA lags behind other nations in enforcing basic and necessary election protections —
- India and Brazil tie voter I.D. to a biometric database, while the United States largely relies on self-attestation for citizenship.
- Germany and Canada require paper ballots when tabulating votes, while the U.S. lacks basic chain-of-custody protections.
- Denmark and Sweden sensibly limit mail-in voting to those unable to vote in person.
- Late arrivals do not count—while American elections now feature mass voting by mail, even after Election Day.
